The rest of the moving is done next weekend. Boo! On the other hand, I am excited to see how the paint turns out!Much like with installs on the FJ, I bought the materials and am doing it myself to save outrageous labor costs (I was quoted everywhere from $650 - $1,700 to do a 600 sq ft studio :o). We spent $150 at Sherwin Williams, and I'm doing the friggin' thing myself tomorrow.

ParticipantThis Friday is starting to suck. It started in Thursday when I wend to my metal fabricators to pick up 4 of my 6 projects to find out that he's on vacation and he has not done anything yet. I have been scrambling around to metal shops to get rush orders completed. I did the splash/rock guard for the rear winch myself. Welding is easy, but getting nice looking welds is overrated. It looks like Sebastian tacked it with Play Dough. I got the compressor mount on, but the compressor is not hooked up. As for the IPF fog lights running to the “Taco” switch this morning. The A2A mount is hopefully being made by a stainless steel company at a rush rate of $120.00/hr. I'm now at an off-road shop I said I would never go back to to get the shackle mounts welded on and painted. My boss needs me to come into the office instead of using technology like e-mail and fax to get things in. I have pushed me leave time back from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.I still have to load the truck and pack clothes.I can't wait until I get on the road......And to Moab......-Ben

ParticipantBastard!
Another glorious Friday is upon us. Sun is starting to come out now and the ride in with the top down was great. Except for the slow drivers doing 65.All the more reason for me not to get a Z06. I would be pissed and angry everyday when I got to work and I would be angry and pissed everyday when I got home.
How is that different from now? 😉
OUCH!Just got in from power washing the Troop after yesterday's Assateague run. The beach was almost deserted. Happy Friday.

I am going Sunday morning. I signed up for level 1 because I thought others were coming. It looks like just Joe and I are going and Joe is signed up for level 2, so I may switch. Here is the link.

I know, I know. FJ sales have slowed and there are several used ones on the market. I saw one at a Ford dealer in Easton on the way back from OC and there are several listed on the motherboard. So it would be a good time to pick one up. However, I have a slight problem. Just bought my wife a used Volvo 960 wagon to haul her kayak around (the Sienna is too high for her ::)), when my daughter decides that she is going away to college. Of course, we hadn't budgeted for anything more than a community college this year. The good thing is that the college is still giving her a partial scholorship but it is now too late for them to put us on a monthly billing plan so I have to come up with 10 K within 2 weeks. Needless to say, it is not a good time for me to buy an FJ. :'( :'(

ParticipantFunny you should mention that. I worked with a team doing the 4th generation and that was one of their things (avoid the hood, if you will). However, lawyers forced us to abandon that because it would be profiling and a sure fire way to get sued. I thought it was a great idea. The problem is... Imagine you punch in your own address (which happens to be the hood) and the GPS just keeps driving you around it, trying to figure a way in.HAHA

GuestTGIF. My Continental street tires in the rear finally gave out. I heard a thumping sound while driving home from the college the other night. When I got home, I noticed that there was some tread missing on one of them. So . . . yesterday I bought a new pair of Wranglers in the rear to go with the ones up front. These have a more aggressive tread similar to the BFG ATs and a layer of Kevlar. Goodyear was running a sale, 8% over cost, so I got them from $130 each. ;D ;D

GuestHere are the specs on the Wranglers.Anyone looking for tires should consider Goodyear with the sale going on. I also picked up a set of their Assurance ComforTreds for Janet's Sienna. $85 per tire ($445 out the door and I will be getting a $40 gift card in the mail). Both were below the price at TireRack before the shipping charges are added.Don't know if all of the stores are running the sale but the "Bay Area" chain is.BAY AREA TIRE & SERVICE CENTER7986 CRAIN HWYGLEN BURNIE, MD 21061(410)969-0701BAY AREA TIRE & SERVICE CENTER7423 N RITCHIE HIGWAYGLEN BURNIE, MD 21061(410)761-9008BAY AREA TIRE & SERVICE CENTER539 RITCHIE HWYSEVERNA PARK, MD 21146(410)647-7977BAY AREA TIRE & SERVICE CENTER185 A DEFENSE HGWYANNAPOLIS, MD 21401(410)266-7977

That is why I was smiling when I lost the 2 Continentals. All it took was airing them down to about 14 PSI and going over some sharp rocks at Paragon. The low pressure allowed the tires to flex and expose the weak sidewalls. (True off-road tires have more protection on the sidewalls.) One tire developed a leak on the trail. Another separated on the highway. New tire purchase justified. ;D ;D

Unfortuantley no - the bank was not being very cooperative and the house itself was very nice, but it was on top of a hill with a 45 degree angle - so all the land and nothing we could do with it. But, when doors close - new ones open. We got a under the table deal on a lot and house that was unbelievable; so we pounced!
good deal

This is a serious problem but one that the Bruisers should be able to help you with. 8)My diagnosis (I am not a doctor but my initials are MD) is that you need some time off-road. Since you do not have weekends off, I suggest a day trip at GreenRidge State Park. I am sure that RickRock will be interested since he is retired. I feel a cold coming on . . . cough . . . cough . . . cough . . . and, since many of us are getting together this weekend for Assateague, I suspect that it may be spread to some of the other Bruisers . . . cough . . . cough . . . cough . . . This epidemic may become really bad sometime on a Monday or Thursday, maybe during the first week of October. What do you think Bruisers? ???

ParticipantSarah and I had a blast last night! For my work, we got to attend a gala dinner for Americans for Prosperity, at Mount Vernon. George and Martha Washington (actors) were there to greet us, and John Stossel from 20/20 was the emcee. There was a martini reception on the veranda overlooking the Potomac, followed by an awesome dinner - Duck Breast with Mission Figs, followed by Red Deare of Beefe, Truffled Potato Crepes, and a Fondue of Vegetables Grown at Mount Vernon. An accompanying goblet of wine was brought out for each course. Dessert was a Butterscotch Torte with Warm Pear Compote. There were several speakers, followed up by a Toast from George Washington (he was dressed in full colonial attire - sword and all), where he called us patriots for pursuing the cause of individual liberty and a limited government controlled by the people. ;D Followed by a traditional 18th century toast - Hip hip... huzzah! He then asked us (everybody, not just me and Sarah :P) to join him on the piazza for champagne and fireworks over the Potomac. It was freakin' awesome.

ParticipantThat's awesome Joe! You got photos?
No - it really didn't seem appropriate (especially considering that Sarah and I were probably the youngest ones there!). Everyone there was a $2500+ donor, and we only got to go because my company contributed and my bosses didn't feel like going. So, we did our best to fit in - which involved no snapping pictures or bothering John Stossel (although I really wanted to do both!).

ParticipantHappy Friday Mates………It's an O.K. day, but there are signs of being just on the edge of just a little EF'd up. I didn't want to get up, so I layed in bed with Kennedy watching the Wiggles and was late to work (I know I have my own schedule, but it was still later than I wanted). I forgot my cell phone at home. You know that's going to Phuck me up all day.But...........Things are looking up a little. I'm wearing an ARB shirt. I just keep peering down at the logo thinking maybe I should surf the net and find prices for new gears and lockers. Now if I didn't have MT_Pockets.......or a wife that didn't cut me off from more mods. Happy Friday Bruisers. -Ben
